Chronic Disease Management

Chronic disease such as asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression, musculoskeletal conditions and stroke can have a significant impact on everyday life. Exercise Physiologists may be able to help you to better manage your condition to help meet your goals and improve your overall quality of life. This is through providing individualised and evidence based programs to help improve physical function and emotional wellbeing.

Pre- & Post-operative Care

Current evidence shows that the fitter and stronger you are going into a surgery the better you recover after the operation. This ranges from improved recovery of function to reducing both complications and overall mortality rates.

The pre-operative phase is called Prehabilitation. The exercises and training are aimed at preparing the particular area of the body for surgery by strengthening the muscles around it, to improve rehabilitation and reduce your recovery time.

Post-operatively, rehabilitation is a team effort. We work together with a variety of other Allied Health Professionals including GP’s, Surgeons, Physiotherapists and Massage Therapists to help ensure you get the best care during your recovery to optimise your health.

Exercise physiologists can help you prepare for, and rehabilitate from the following procedures:

·        Total hip replacement

·        Knee replacement

·        Shoulder replacement

·        Knee & shoulder arthroscopy

·        Ligament repair (i.e. ACL, achilles)

·        Rotator cuff surgery

·        Spinal surgery

·        Ankle and foot surgery
